Commercial Description:
Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition from Munich and Klages malts, Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

Tastes expired and old. Long lasting, bad aftertaste. Murky, cheap lager color. Though cheap enough that it’s hard to complain.

I’m being kind to this beer because I purchased it on sale. After having "experienced" this beer, I assume the six-pack had been sitting on a room-temperature shelf for at least a year, maybe two. It smelled pretty skunky. The appearance was fine, standard lager color with cloudiness. The taste was not so good, with lots of buttery off flavours. Ice cold it didn’t taste so bad, but it still proved to be a source of, uh, gastrointestinal distress. Maybe one day I’ll re-rate this beer when I find an example that has been treated with more care.

Bottle. Pours golden with a minimal white head. Aroma of pine hops and sweet malts. Flavor is carbonated, sweet upfront with a slight hoppy bitter finish. Reminds me of unsweetened iced tea with a little alcohol and hops. Weak body, but a drinkable brew.

Nice hoppy smell, but the flavor fails to live up - rather bland - tastes more like a decent premuim lager than a pils.

For a pilsner, its not the worst I’ve had. A nice light body beer flavor, with a tiny taste of honey. Malt and hops work nocely together giving a nice drinkable. beer

Bottle. Light palate. Fruity, slight hop. Water-yeast. Blandy. But passable. Thought it might be a bitter. pale flat gold with a tiny head.

Poured a golden color with a good chill haze. Not much carbonation or head. Beer is very much on the malty side with a slight hop character, not what I would expect from a pilsner style beer. Has a creamy full-bodiedness to it. Surprising ale-like fruitiness, with banana, apple, and pear flavors. Slightly sweetish finish, but not too strong.

Golden yellow body, with a light yellow froathy head. Mostly hoppy aroma. There is a definate flavor to this beer, almost surypy sweet. Tast lingers. Not bad.
