Fruity bready aroma.Off white head, small bubbles. dissipating fairly quickly.Grapey, yeasty flavors on a thin bodied brew that finishes medium dry. Some medicinal flavors in the aftertaste also. Not much here. Not overpoweringly spiced like many of these beers are, but the spices are definately there. Nutmeg and cinnamon maybe? Spices aren't exactly my forte. Good beer though. I've been impressed with North Coast so far. hoorayforbeer (105), Denton, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 18, 2003 Light amber color with not much head. Lots of spices such as coriander and cinnamon, and some occasional nutty flavors were all in there with a constant malt background. And fruit--I certainly agree with the comments about tons of Belgian yeast. The fruit flavors were everywhere, yet the overall taste came across as somewhat weak--still a good flavor, just weak. All in all, an interesting, drinkable beer, but not my favorite winter brew. herbstress3 (221), Bellingham, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 8, 2003 This one pours a clear amber color with a lingering, small white head. It leaves decent lacings on the glass. The aroma is fruity and estery, almost belgian ale like. Flavor is malty and slightly nutty. Finish is mildly sweet. A rather tasty seasonal. drismyhero (815), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2003 Updated: Oct 27, 200310/20/03 - This year the North Coast winter must have undergone some sort of reconstruction because it was considerably better. Fairly malty with a hint of pine and a healthy dose of spice (coriander? currant?...not really clovey) which is somewhat sour on the tip of tongue, and mixed with just enough hops to add some interest. Complex, good, but not exploding with confusing flavor anymore. Mellow really.
1/7/03 - 3.2 - I love Belgian yeast...but I think North Coast overdid it here. All I could taste throughout the entire drink was esters, esters, esters. There were some nice malty hints that I think went nicely with the yeast, but I could hardly find them for christsakes.
