Bottle bought from the Royal show at considerable expense. Dark and flat. Powerful, warming and over priced.

A Mes rate: bottle, BIG thanks to our Magic, firstly for opening this very rare gem and secondly for pouring it into an original Bass No. 1 glass.
Black red, no chance of any head what so ever due to the huge booze but it certainly gives it some classy legs. The aroma is equal parts amazing and quite mad. The alcohol clearly takes my breath away but somehow I can’t smell it. Awesome chocolate milkshake, marmite, cheese, plums, currants, brandy and sticky toffee pudding with a fresh cream topping. Beautifully sweet and complex. The flavour... jeeeeesus this is massive. Big tarty acidic fruit with a huge tangy feel. Has that adorable bittersweet thing going on that really hits the spot for me. My god this feels almost fresh, it would age so so well. Sour and zesty yet with a huge burly hairy lumberjack of a body. What a beer. It’s a long time since something has kicked me up the arse like this. All that I pulled out from the nose is here with more but the sour and tarty finish is just incredible. Thick and viscous on the palate yet not at all cloying at all. The alcohol is there but it drinks more like a 7% beer not something more than twice that. Fantastic high quality ingredients and flavours, superbly made and just down right outstanding. I’d love to be able to stick a few of these away.

Bottle from lucky ronnie, shared with mesand sim. Aroma is tart plums, bitter chocolate, massive dark fruit character, alc is somehow compressed into a massive character of goodness, which is very appealing. Taste is big, sweet fruit, tart and oxidised, rasberry sharpness, acidity reminisant of triple bock. My god this is a huge beer, and one id like again.

Bottle, 375ml. A deep black colour with no head and lots of yeast sediment. Aroma is hoppy, with sweet liquorice and coffee notes. Mouthfeel is syrupy. Flavour is very sweet with some liquorice, roasted malt, barley and coffee notes. Yep, too sweet.

Cask conditioned at Harbury Beer Fest ’07. Red amber with no head. Not sure what this was about apart from gaining a massive ABV. Its too rich, too sweet, too porty and tastef of linctus. Was only served in 1/3rd pints which was definitely enough.
