Dec 14, 2009 Cask, handpump at The Briar Nose, Birmingham 13-12-09 Second visit here of the day at ten to twelve on Sunday night. Pours conker brown with a really large white fluffy head. Dark sugars dominate, its malty, fruity but a little unrefined a touch rough otherwise its ok. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Mar 22, 2008 Bottle. Brownish with some bitterness. Left no lacing and was certainly more attractive than some of their other beers.

Aug 18, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Woolpack (Ricks), Banbury. Dark brown with slight head. Possibly like a very strong mild, this has a burnt malt, chocolatey initial flavour with a strong licorice character, background sweetness masking the alcohol, thickish body with heavy pallate. There is a finishing coffee note and a fruity sweet finish. Quite an unusual beer for a cask ale, there is plenty going on, just a bit heavy for a pub beer.
