Black with a small off-white head. Aroma of licorice and chocolate with a little diacetyl. Dry and roasted flavour with a charcoal finish.

Cask at GBBF08. Almost black colour, small light brown head. Good roasted aroma. The flavour is nice, roasted with a hint of dark bread. A bit of sour bitterness and mold in the finish.

Cask@GBBF2008. Very deep rubyish amber colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is caramel, sweet fruits and mild notes of wood. Flavour is dark fruits, sour wood and mild notes of sour sap. Also some mild notes of diacetyl.

Cask at GBBF 08. Black, thin beige head. Powdery choc aroma, powdery in mouth. It’s ok, a little bit of hop on end. Little bit thin maybe. Some dark fruit. Just not there in terms of quaffability.

Cask at GBBF 08. Nearly black with a line of cream head. Good coffee flavours, nice balance and very drinkable. The tame aroma is the one weak area.

Bottle. Better than expected as most bottled beers I have tried from this brewery have been poorly bottled.Dark and quite sharp with none of the sulphuric taste that I have come across before. Some bitterness and a well rounded medium bodied porter. The title is a numerous play on words. The first bottle from this brewery that I can recommend.

Cask (handpump) @ The Briar Rose, Birmingham B2, UK. Clear medium black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, burnt, vanilla. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter (malt bitter) with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft / flat. (130108)

They clearly did no favours to this beer by bottling it. Label was numbered G208. Flat and very dark brown. Ashtray aroma. Taste is sour, musty and really rather grim.
