Commercial Description:
Guaranteed to straighten you antler and warm your doe. This West Coast style of stout is one of McIntyre's favorites.

Enjoyed via draft in a pub glass. Pours a jet black color, with a slight tan head. Aromas of roasted malt and some American hops come across in the nose; perhaps some Cascade. Initial flavors of coffee initially are noted on the palate, followed by hop flavors and resins in the finish, although not as much as examples such as Rogue’s Shakespeare stout. The finish is medium-dry, making it rather easy to drink, especially given the abv. This was probably the second best beer offered at the brewpub. Good overall.

Lots of peat and smoke and a fair amount of hops at finish. definetly better than a Guiness. Dark but clear, licorice and cherries at midway.

12/27/07 - Winter Road Trip ’07 - Draft sample at Pub. Dark black w/ brown, creamy head, opaque. Smokey nose, some malt. Good mouthfeel w/ slight carb. Nice smokiness with some malt, coffee and caramel. Few hops at the end. Good smoke-stout type of thing.

Poured oil black with a small head. Had a lot of chocolate and caramel in the nose. It was really smokey, almost like a cured meat, but in a good way. Notes of molasses and bitter chocolate.

This stout is very average. All th properties are there. A little light on the mouthfeel. Wouldn’t call it a "sweet" stout. Average.

Draught. Dark pour with a chocolatey-coffee aroma. Flavor is about the same, with a touch of peat and earth added in. I don’t think it was anywhere near 6% ABV, it came across as thin, both in texture and umpf. Had a fairly nice creamy texture.

Light roasted malt aroma with a bit of acidic tang. Faint smoky notes and a bit of floral hops and malted milk. Dark black with creamy dark tan head. Medium bodied with mild-medium carbonation, a fairly smooth palate. Starts with nice roasted grain, good smokiness, with coffee and chocolate and nutty bitterness. Sweet malted milk notes. Finishes with a carbonic tang and good roasted-burnt bitterness. Overall, really smooth with a bitter malt and nutty after. Nice.
