boFNjackson (645), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 7, 2008 Bottle... Poured a thick oil-like black with no head, what gives? Aroma of pennies and brown sugar and watery malt. Flavors of thick roasted malt with a metallic character with hints of chocolate, coffee and nuts. Pretty mediocre and far from "Northwests Bests." NickVega (71), Eugene, Oregon, USA Aug 17, 2007 Decent - but i really like the Porter better. Had this one on nitro I think. beerguy101 (3608), Newark, California, USA Jun 23, 2006 This stout pours a dark black color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized beige foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee, hint of vanilla. A medium bodied stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee, touch of vanilla. Not a lot of roasty malts. A touch thin and a little flat tasting. Very average stout. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. barleyPops (1067), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Feb 20, 2006 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Fordest. rich black, but thin looking pour with NO head. roasted malt & coffee aroma and flavor. seemed a bit one dimensional and had a peculiar bitterness on the finish. glad to have had the opportunity to try it, but not one I would seek out again.
