| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 6, 2003 Updated: Dec 3, 2007The stuff on draft was pretty good, but they have big problems with their bottling line, so the package brews are dragging it down. I have to average two ratings:
Draft, at Northwoods: 6/10 3/5 6/10 3/5 11/20 Rating: 2.9
The bartender compared this to a Honey Weiss, presumably seeking a comparison to the Leinenkugel boys further up the road. A slightly spritzy wheatlike character indeed in a pale malt color. Just a taste of honey comes through.
Bottled: 1/10 1/5 2/10 1/5 3/20 Rating: 0.8
Cracking the top, I get an immediate whiff of salted peanut shells. Pours with no head and a pale yellow color with little particles suspended throughout. Taste is like peanut shells, too, or Hiney Weiss gone stale, but at least with a little hint of wheat. Could it be that the bottles on premises are old?
