Sample at the brewpub. Light clear maple with just a touch of lasting foam...simple caramel nose...sour, bitter, woody in the body...dry, cardboardy finish, medium body.

Ale is hoppy and caramel in flavour. I think this is more a pale ale than say a red ale but maybe they are naming it on colour. Nice full mouthfeel and finish. A good beer.

Draft, at Northwoods. Another fizzy and hoppy brew. More of a pale ale in taste. Again, the hops tend to overwhelm what malt there is.

Good initial semi-malty, semi-hoppy mouthfeel, but with a rather thin finish. Average to below average head retention. Nice reddish hue. I would happily drink this again while at Northwoods brew pub, but would select something different given a good beer pub selection.

Very sweet, grape like aroma. Sweet taste although not as hoppy as advertised. I’d drink this again.
