Commercial Description:
In the US, called BrouCzech Dark.

Pyrope or Bohemian garnet stones were randomly collected in our territory by ancient Celts. It is a stone of all-binding fire, passion as well as purity of heart. However, it is generally known as a stone of love. Thanks to its typical colour, its name has been used metaphorically in connection with the colour of dark and semi-dark beers. Granat from Nova Paka is a dark sweeter lager with quality rich foam that is suitable for mixing pale types; alcohol 5%.

Bottle 0.5 l. Dark red, completely disappearing head. Nose is mostly metallic and slightly berryish with grass and maybe cucumber style fresh veggies. Flavor is roasted, bitter with some berries and stingy metal. A bit thin and stingy mouthfeel, feels and tastes a bit like a non alc. For some reason I can’t really get a hang of this.

12 oz bottle. Poured into a pint glass with a murky ruby dark brown color and a medium foamy tan head. Nose is very grassy leading as the dominant controller of the aroma but background character of dark fruits, candy like sugar and cocoa. Initial taste is malty, deeply smokey with caramel, raisans and some cocoa. Mid-palate to finish continues with the smoke and with tangy hop finish. Dry finish. Average palate duration. Some head retention.

Dark ruby color with small off-white head. Roasted, dark bread aroma with grassy hops. Fizzy carbonation. Roasted dark malty flavor with some Kozel Dark kind of sweetness. In the finish strong burst of typical Nova Paka woody hops - they use same hops in every beer? Strong cellary flavors.

0.5 l bottle. Dark ruby color with small head. Sweetish bready, toffeish, caramelly and softly roasty aroma. The same continues in the flavor along with notes of chocolate, rum and dark sugar. Mellow, fairly pleasant but nothing special.

Bottle... Poured a dark ruby with little to no head. Rich malt on the nose. Acidic, fizzy palate. Flavors of caramelly malt with other floral presences like leafy herbs and some fruit. Really beefy and robust, went well with the chocolate ice cream I was having. Yeasty finish with sort of a chocolate-malt aftertaste.

Bottled. Deep reddish amber colour with small beige head, which vanishes quite fast. Aroma is toffee, some nectar, roasted malts and red berries. Some mild vanillaish notes are also to be found a while after pouring. Flavour is not too sweet caramel malts along with some mild burnt sugar and red berries. Easy to drink brew, but at the same time quite enjoyable.

(Bottled) Clear, very dark reddish amber with a smallish, tanned and pretty quickly descending, but partly lasting head. Very mild aroma of toffee-caramely, lightly roasted malt and some berries. Slightly burned, caramely-malty flavor with berries, low bitterness and some vegetable hints. Slicky-smooth, light to medium-bodied palate with quite low carbonation. A smooth and easily drinkable, but not very exciting brew. Surprisingly clean being from this brewery.

Bottle. Medium fluffy off-white head, body is translucent ruby. Aroma is toffee, with a hint of dusty yeast. Flavor is caramelly, malt some light berry notes, and pleasant czech hop bitterness throughout. Finish has lingering hop flavors and light bitterness. Mouthfeel is full with a mild hop oiliness.
