Commercial Description:
In the US, called BrouCzech Dark.

Pyrope or Bohemian garnet stones were randomly collected in our territory by ancient Celts. It is a stone of all-binding fire, passion as well as purity of heart. However, it is generally known as a stone of love. Thanks to its typical colour, its name has been used metaphorically in connection with the colour of dark and semi-dark beers. Granat from Nova Paka is a dark sweeter lager with quality rich foam that is suitable for mixing pale types; alcohol 5%.

Bottle named Brou Czech Dark from Trader Joe’s Cincy. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate grainy sweet malt aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

350 ml bottle. An improvement over the BrouCzech Lager. A bit more dark malt smell, though still a little oxydized and grainy. Pour nice, if dull brown color with a fizzy lager head. Taste is okay, but seems to show a little phenol and possibly some corn. Bitterness is there, but hops are difficult to pick out. Maybe be a little old. Available at Trader Joe’s, Downers Grove, IL

Not bad, but seemed to be one dimensional. A nice brown body, thick off-white head. Aroma was sweet caramel malts and so was the flavor. There were some earthy notes to balance out the sweetness, but the caramel flavor seemed to linger.

The pour was dark and brown with a one finger creamy brown head. The aroma is sweet, caramel, grainy, and a little banana, some peat. The flavor showed some caramel, earthy, malty, smokey, a basement taste.

12 oz bottle. Labeled as Brou Czech Dark. Decent dark color. Some roasty aromas. Molasses and caramel came through. The flavor fell off a bit with some lager twang and a bit of a watery mouthfeel. Just OK.
