Jonte (370), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 12, 2008 On-tap at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Gothenburg. Dark brown almost black color with a small pale brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice and frutiness. Roasted/burned malty flavor with notes of chocolate, coffee, licorice, fruit and a bit of smoke. A bit lame for an imp. stout almost more like a regular stout or porter. But still good.
ChristianScheffel (2087), Odense, Denmark Aug 25, 2008 Dark brown with a lasting light brown head. American hops dominate the aroma with pine and orange notes, while toffee and roast malt stays in the background. Dry roasted malt flavour with plenty hop flavours and lots of bitterness. oh6gdx (5857), Vaasa, Finland Aug 24, 2008 Bottled (thanks omhper!). Very deep brown, close to black, colour. Mediumsized brown creamy head, that leaves nice lace. Aroma is toffee, fudge, licorice and caramel malts along with slight notes of wood. Flavour is very much the same in a very pleasant balance. The wooden notes are stronger in flavour than aroma. Big licorice finish. TEJA (80), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 21, 2008 Dark brown foam. Much coffey and burnt malts. Small body for an imperial stout but well balansed. FatPhil (2090), Espoo, Finland Aug 16, 2008 Keg (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
Basalt black, slightly fizzy tan head. Sharp crisp edge, presumably new-world aromatic hops, to an otherwise sweet stout aroma. Lively carbonation, crisp in the mouth. Some soapiness in the taste, but otherwise solid but refreshing stout. Good gingery bite, and dry burntness too. Long tingly hoppy finish. Quite sweet, but refreshing. pivnizub (3793), Porúří, Germany Aug 13, 2008 Bottle (RBESG 08): Deep amber coloured with a beige head; leather and liquorice in the dry malty nose, roasted grains in the background; full dry bitter flavour, quite light bodied; quite short dry bitter-malty and a bit chocolatey finish. Not too impressive.............
