The year 2003 is the best. we shared 4 bootles last time at Mackinleys Inn.
2004 is the worst and it is still better then any other beer.
2005 I got a hold of 20 bottles and still have one for saving at home. Still buying them when I can at the bar too. But they have a high price and well worth the price, remember to drink it at the right temperature sm1oii (1), Hablingbo, Gotland, Sweden does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Feb 7, 2008 2003 #508, 2004 #108, 2005 #586. 500ml bottle. 2003 is the best. Rich, coffeeish flavour - long and assertive without being aggressive. Underlying woody, whiskyish notes. Excellent balance - the barrel-aging perfectly complements the porter, making it better. Easily the best balanced barrel-aged beer. What the others should be striving for. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA

Light and feathery almost in the body, this is just a delightfully made beer. I love the roasty, slightly astringent coffee flavors, but the smokiness is perfect. Truly a great beer. Thanks to JCW! It come with no label except from a tar impregnated and smelling piece of rope - a very nice detail! It’s pitch black with a creamy head. The aroma has loads of roasted malt and chocolate, but also coffee and wood. The mouthfeel is oily and the flavour is full and harmonic. It has loads of chocolate, coffee and licorice, hints of tar and oak. The balance between sweetness and bitterness is just right. A great one indeed! 2398
