Commercial Description:
A traditional unfiltered Bavarian wheat beer with aromatic hints of banana and clove. This beer won the Bavarian Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver Colorado Staurday, September 27, 2003. It is made with up to 50% wheat malt instead of all malted barley which lends a lighter note. It is deep gold in color with a very low hop bitterness level and a dense head of white foam. It is traditionally enjoyed as the summer beer of choice in Bavaria and pairs well with appetizers, sandwiches and subs.

Muddy blond color. Very light aroma. Quite ordinary What Ale flavor, a bit sweetish, very light spices, light orange peel. Correct bitterness for this beer. Simple.

Cider body, minimal white head. Strong banana aroma, mild clove. Taste is clove and banana, but also has something in the finish that doesn't belong. Not so good.

( 12oz bottle ) Pours a lightly hazy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of florals, soap, and wheat. Flavor of wheat, soap, florals, and cereal with a thin, watered down mouthfeel. Sub par.

Sampled on 4/22/2009. This Hefeweizen pours a slightly hazy yellow gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head without much retention. The aroma is bubblegum and wheaty. A light to medium bodied Hefeweizen. The malts are wheaty and sweet with a touch of banana and clove. Hops are slightly floral. Kind of flat tasting and under-carbonated. Sort of between a wheat ale and a hefe. Not a very good example of either. Nothing really unpleasant tasting here, its just that there is not a lot of flavor. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Light orange in color with little head. Highly yeasted with nice orange-familied flavors. Tastes great, but a bit flat.

Tap at Brewery: Server asked if I wanted a lemon or not. I chose not to have lemon. Had a good banana aroma. Hazy gold color with a good white foamy head. Flavor constisted mainly of banana. Foamy head gave it some creamy flavor also. Enjoyable hefe.

Quite a bit of banana, wheat; a strong aroma. Strainy appearance. Pretty nice fresh flavor. A decent beer.

Pours a very hazy, tan copper color, with a wispy off white head. This is from a just tapped keg. It smells predominantly of bubble gum and a bit of banana, as well as some base level graininess. The taste is all bubblegum, perhaps a bit too much. It is light and would be quite refreshing if the bubblegum character was reduced a bit. There is a bit of the characteristic clove and banana here as well. Needs to be a bit tamer in the bubblegum compartment, but otherwise a pretty decent example.
