Commercial Description:
A 2002 Bronze Medal Winner in the North American Brewers' Association competition. This northern Arizona favorite has a consistent nutty flavor with just a hint of spice in its depths. A slowly emerging bitterness crops up along the way and is unobtrusively incorporated into the smooth flow. It finishes with a gentle nuttiness and spiciness. Excellent with sandwiches and subs.

12 oz bottle via Hellbilly (thanks!). Pours a clear dark brown with a huge compacted dark beige head. Nose is caramel malts. Taste starts with some caramel, then some biscuity grains, a tiny bit of chocolate and hazlenut. Some floral hops and a bit of spiciness do make an appearance in the aftertaste. Body is light/medium, carbonation is high, a bit too high. Over-all though a decent brown ale.

on tap @ papago. pours deep brown with red at the edges and a short lived off white head. aroma is caramel, earth and sage/pine hops. flavor is robust caramel malt, wood, raisins, nutty bitterness and some piney hops. finishes dry and leaves a roasted nut aftertaste. medium body, mouth feel and carbonation. need to rerate from a bottle...hopefully it gets better

A nice brown ale that I feel should be rated higher. Aroma is roasted malt and some chocolatey sweetness. Pours brown with a thin tan head. Flavor is more roasted malt with more sweet chocolate. Moderatley dry and sweet finish.

12-oz. Thanks, Footy! Pours a deep dark opaque brown. Headless. Laceless. Seemingly still. Light chocolate, nougat, candy bar-ish nose, but not very forward about it. Medium to light body, fairly still. Lots of processed sugar flavors knocking around on the mid-palate, some caramel, chocolate, nougaty, maybe some roastiness/brown bread there at the end. Has some flavor to it but it that flavor does not have much company. Clingy, sticky sweet finish.

Very watery for a nut brown ale. Lacking in flavor and boldness - really meek in character. Flavors were swirling and not well-defined, no identity. Maybe I had a bad bottle?
