Commercial Description:
A 2002 Bronze Medal Winner in the North American Brewers' Association competition. This northern Arizona favorite has a consistent nutty flavor with just a hint of spice in its depths. A slowly emerging bitterness crops up along the way and is unobtrusively incorporated into the smooth flow. It finishes with a gentle nuttiness and spiciness. Excellent with sandwiches and subs.

Copper colored liquid with a moderate beige head. Nutty aroma with some malt and caramel. Light roast and peat flavors with just a hint of sweetness. Mild sweet herb flavors also. Finish and linger are quite dry and lightly nutty. A true to the title nut brown.

Poured a deep amber color with a large beige head. Smeels like dough and nuts. Mlaty flavor with a good bit of caramel and some earthy tones. Medium bodied.

Pours a dark mahogany amber with a nicely-lacing frothy, light tan head. Slightly toasty sweet and nutty aroma. Body starts sort of thin and one-dimensional with sugary sweet toasty malts toward a watery, blander finish, lingering nutty finish. Alright for the style, but it’s a pretty weak style.

Picked up a six pack of this on the way to the cabin. A little disappointed was I. I’ve had it on tap in Sedona where it’s brewed and thought it was better out of the pipe. Poured a clear light brown with a mild tan head. Taste is simple, light, thin and with strong notes of roasted nuts. Goes down easy enough (I still finished the six pack) but it felt like it was missing something.

Bottle: Mahogany in color, deep brown with copper and red hues, small off-white head, settles to a thin film, with lacing that doesn’t seem to care.   Nose of stale malts, tobacco leaves, and silly putty.   Earthy like malts to start, seems a bit musty and vegetal even.   Becomes fairly thin before the finish.   Seems like homebrew, malt base that yearns to be a bit bigger, but fairly watery overall.   Not bad, but certainly not that flavorful.   Maybe its the heat that this beer is meant for.

Pours a deep rootbeer brown w/ a shallow, semi creamy froth. Aroma of sweet malts and roasted nut shells. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers creates a creamy texture. A malty brown w/ a mild roast. Flavors are mildly sweet w/ nances of leather, roasted cocoa, nut shells, and a bit-o-honey raison. The finish is bittered perfectly w/ velvety hops.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with cbkschubert (thanks!). Poured a medium reddish / brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of cocoa, nuts and caramel. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, nuts, and light toasted malts. Thinner body.

On tap at a sports bar in Sedona. Flat and boring. Served very cold. Typical waste of my time with this one. This is one example why bottles are sometimes more reliable than taps.
