eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2006 Perhaps the best brew made by OC, at least of those that I’ve tried. The oatmeal stout pours a fairly straight black color with a tan head that sustains itself quite nicely and provides a solid coating of lace around the glass. The aroma was of coffee and roasted malts. The flavor did not finish lactic or dry, but with a light bitterness from the roasted malts. This beer doesn’t run away with excess sweetness, thankfully! Kathy (241), Washington DC, USA Mar 12, 2003 Muddy brown (not a deep, rich brown, but the brown of a swollen river). Some roastiness in the aroma, and some yeast bitterness in the aroma, as well. Not a bad oatmeal stout. Some richness in the middle, some sourness in the end, malts throughout (albeit mild). Prett decent. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Feb 24, 2003 Hazy mahogany with minimal head. Aroma is sweet caramel malty, with faint roastiness. Taste has a nice roastiness, good coffee tones, mild bitter burn in the swallow. Decent beer.
