The beer pours that deep brown to black color that I appreciate, a deep beige head and fine lace that coats the glass Note: I sampled this one several times Quiet, don’t tell the ’Beer Fest Beer Marshals’, I could get ’Banned’. The toasted malts dominated the nose but some hop floral tones, were also present, but that roasted/toasted malt stole the show. Starts malt sweet, medium to full top, creamy rich, and coffee like, and quite robust. The beer finishes with a pleasant hop bite; slightly dry, a touch acidic from the moderate carbonation. One of the better porters, I have sampled lately, reminiscent of St. Bridget’s Robust Porter from Great Divide.

Roasted malts, coffee, burnt toast and vanilla aroma. Similar flavors (minus the burnt toast) with some caramel and semisweet chocolate thrown in. Slightly watery but still flavorful and a medium length sweet finish with a mild hoppy bite at the end. A nice way to wind up a day of hiking in Sedona. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jun 23, 2009 On tap at the brew pub in Tlaquepaque. Pours deep brown/black with minimal chocolatey head. Nice roasty aroma. Coffee, cream, and roast come through in the taste. Pretty good and reminds me of Four Peaks Oatmeal Stout. Could have stood to be a touch sweeter - would have really improved drinkability and complemented the coffee/roast character. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
