Cloudy amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma of toasted malt and mild butter. Flavor of toasted malt and mild butter. The body is light with an oily texture and moderate carbonation.

Had a bomber on Mischief Night, earthy, roasted malts, almost thought it had a smoke flavor, but it was a toasted flavor. Amber color, nice foam top, drinkable Marzen.

Objectively speaking: A clean lager that fails to be memorable.
I like: Agreeable toastiness surrounds the nose. Rather bright effervescence suffers a bit from the butterscotchy oiliness. Gently leafy hop closure.
I dislike: Not as refreshing as it could be. Rather sweet all around. Not so bright malt flavours extration.

My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts cover lightly fruity and herbal hops in this dryish and drinkable Oktoberfest.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy deep amber.
-A touch of diacetyl is perceived in the nose, but it doesn’t appear in the flavor profile.
-The hops’ fruitiness is akin to citrus pulp at times.
-The mouthfeel is healthy and the flavor profile clean.
-Hops contribute lackluster bitterness in the finish.

(Rating #1878)

Bottle from Florian’s Market in Auburn. One of the first bottles of ’06 pours a dark golden amber with a hint of brown. Sweet malt and biscuit nose. Flavors are pretty standard german style, buttery and saltine-like flavors. Bitter aftertaste that as my sister called it "bad". I think it’s an average beer, not one i’d seek out again, but it’s still not horrid either.

Golden yellow body... somewhat sweet smell... A little sour, svery buttery, I’ll agree with the other folks who’ve rated this, but I guess that’s not so bad... I think some diacetyl (sp?) crept into this brew... Not something I’lll get often, but not bad overall....
