| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2009 Nice beer not quite as good as the original in my opinion. I believe they went mellow on the hops and malt in order to better showcase the oak. All in all a good beer but I would prefer to drink the Original. Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2009 Pours a dark amber with a red hue. Thin off white, biege head, light lace. Aroma of sweet malts and hops, not much oak. Taste is bitter up front with the sweet malt showing through. Oak is there but not strong, almost gives a coffee/toffee taste in the middle. Finished bitter. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2009 Pours a dark amber copper with medium white head, very little lacing. Aroma obvious of hops and oak. Flavor is more mild than AB, but just doesn’t give any extra complexity to the brew, quite disappointing. Not a bad brew anyway, just not better than AB. hirigalzkar (583), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2009 Bottle. Takes the edge of the usual bastard without adding any depth. Oaking a bastard really isn’t a good idea. Block (379), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 8, 2009 Red brow pour with an off white head. Strong aroma of hops and some alcohol. I thought the flavor was somewhere in between Arrogant Bastard and Double Bastard. Couldn’t pick out much oak in the aroma or flavor. Bitterness and alcohol finish. A slightly strong Arrogant Bastard. AtlAggie (137), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Deep reddish brown with a thin light brown head. Aroma strongly of hops, citrus, lemon, and faint wood traces. Flavor dominated by floral hops, grapefruit, lemon, quite bitter. Surprisingly little oak, given the name--was expecting more oak, smoke, maybe some earthiness, none of which I found. Definitely an aggressive beer, with a strong and lingering bitterness on the finish. Definitely an unusual ale--not really my thing, but can see how it would appeal to some. tokyogoat (543), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 7, 2009 Dark ruby / brown with a very small head.
Smells of the obvious oak and a little bit of fruit.
The oak hits first, some piny hops follow it, some sweet fruit, then finishes with some dry stickiness of oak again.
The oak is definitely the glue arrogant bastard always need to hold all of these aggressive flavors together. shawnm213 (951), South Bend, Indiana, USA
