| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Not really oaky-maybe a bit musty. Very chocolaty, but in a different way. More like nutella. Hops are good, but the herbal & earthy aspect is a little odd. Much better than the fresher one I had, which was straight cat piss hops. Low carbonation, mouthfeel is a bit too thick. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2008 On tap on redlight. Beautiful red color. Really easy to drink. Alot chiller than the regular arrogant bastard. More malty. Carmel and toffee flavors were definitely present. Id like to try the double, but this was nice. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of some rich caramel malt goodness, some store-brand sandwich cookie malt. I really didnt get any oak, nor the slightest impression of increased complexity from it. Flavor again that weak, cheap cookie malt. All the aging seems to have done as far as I can see is make the body thinner, too thin. Seemingly over the hill before it even made it into the bottle. Big disappointment. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep somewhat murky brown with a ring of off white head. Aroma of raisins and sweet caramel malt. Flavor is very sweet and malty. No oak. No hops. Very underwhelming. It is a shame because regular AB is so good. Not a good beer to oak age apparently. fidel (1015), Livermore, California, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2008 12 oz bottle. Amber brown liquid with a dissipating head and plenty of lacing. As advertised it is an oaked version of AB. The oak comes through strong, dry and acridly woody. A more refined AB that is a bit harder to enjoy but ultimately more pleasing. Caramel and grapefruit hops still come out but are more muted than in the AB. Light vanilla note. dirt55 (155), Washington, USA
