Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale

Bottle.
Pours a deep, thick amber with a lush head of beige. Crimson highlights act like stained glass when held against light, resembling a chalice of blood. Aroma is sweet orange and bitter grapefruit, with an afterthoughtof bready mango alongside cheddar cheese. Tastes of subtle grapefruit and light strawberry syrup-topped biscuit, pine, and sharp cheddar. Thick and coating along the tongue as it travels toward the throat. Not sure where the oak is, but this beer is nice nonetheless.

Massively hopped nose along with detectable oak notes. Predictably bitter, tastes like gnawing at the side of a thickly barked tree probably would., and then comes the bitter. Beautiful looking beer, a rich red. Prefer the non-oaked version and actually prefer Stone’s standard IPA above all their other offerings. Definitely a different taste and something you may want to try if you need to experience variety for the sake of variety itself. OK.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dark fruit, caramel, oak wood, vanilla and citrussy hops. Malty taste with dark fruit, dried apricots, caramel, toffee and lots of wood. Generous amounts of citrussy hops in a long, earthy finish. Surprisingly nice balance for such a cocky beer. Very nice one.

pours cloudy amber with thick beige head, it is actually quite pretty. the aroma is grapefruit and the flavor is fruity maltiness with a distinct bitter finish.

Bottle - Pours a cloudy reddish/brown – unappealing, not pretty to look at. Ok, I’ll say it, It is ugly. Smells of deep fruits and lots of alcohol. The aroma is complex with honey and pear battling a ton of other notes all screaming to be heard. First sip is tangy/bitter – also complex. There is a whole lot going on here. The oak really makes this 7.2% ABV beer seem a ton stronger. An intriguing complex ale that is spicy, bitter, and tangy. You have my attention.

Bottle. Poured a clear ruby brown with a creamy off-white head that settled to a thin layer that lasted and left good lacing. Nice fruit aroma with some oak and hops. A hint of vanilla comes out in the aroma as it warms. The flavor finds an enjoyable fruitiness backed with a hoppiness and malt mix. Medium body with a moderate bitterness. Smoother and the alcohol hidden better than the regular Arrogant Bastard. Very Nice!

Dark reddish amber with large beige head. Sweet aroma with toasted malt, caramel and hoppy notes. Sweet flavour with plenty of hops, caramel, grapefruit and woody notes. Ends with solid bitterness.

Just as attractive as it’s non-oaked brother. Red with a large off-white head. A touch of citrusy hops melded to the taste of raw wood chips. Some noticeable fruity notes as well. Tasty but I prefer the original.
