| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 28, 2008 Tursday night growler. Pours a brownish amber with 2 finger light tan head that left good lacing. Aromas of sweet malt, some apple, a little caramel. Flavor not as sweet as nose would indicate nice roasted flavor right off the bat before the caramel like sweetness sets in and then the light bitterness balancing in the end. Light to med body, mild carb, watery syrup texture, and an almost dry feel. I haven’t had this beer in years and only got the growler for rating puposes, but damn it is so much better than I remember from 10 years ago. I’ll most certainly be enjoying pints of this on a more regular basis. EithCubes (2166), Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Turned out to be rating no. 1750, and my favorite of 37 amber ales. Bottle. Sweet malty nose with a touch of yeast and apple juice, though she’s fresh. Dark brown-amber body with a creamy, rocky beige head. Roast taste, light caramel and dark pitted fruit, a hint of smoke or at least near-peated roast malt, orange peel, rose petals, faint earthy citrus. Slight nuts and a sort of pluot/plum accent. Medium body but just a ton of flavor. Ah, nuance! Balanced and clean and really tasty - extremely good for style. Delicious! Delicious! kiefdog (1631), Tampa, Florida, USA

Aroma is faint coffee but little else is discernible from this pour. Flavor had notes of molasses, coffee, chocolate, slight bitterness throughout. Longer coffee-bitter-like finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 23, 2008 Not too shabby. I was pretty surprised by this one. Pours a nice amber color with a great head. Nice lacing too. Flavor has a good mix of hops and malt. Some citrus and dark fruits seem to swirl around in the background, with a little spice and a note of candy. Slightly bitter on the palate, but in a way which gives the beer charatcer. A good change of pace beer, with lots of small things going on in it. Very easy drinking, a great session brew. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA

The aroma is sweet and light with a nutty character and the flavor is very earthy and bitter. This is a great beer to taste for anyone in Indiana. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The aroma is sweet with oranges and some black tea. There is also a little bit of caramel. The taste is toasted almonds with some hints of bread crust. There is also a little bit of black pepper spice. The finish continues that spice with some cereal. Decent. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
