Commercial Description:
This robust ale is dark, rich, and chewy. Somewhat bitter with a big and chocolatey malt flavor, the Snake brings the kind of flavor that drinkers of single malt Scotch or straight black coffee appreciate.

Arrived a dark brown with a brownish head. There were noticeable chocolate and coffee notes on the nose. The flavor is malty and hits the middle of the palate. The chocolate and coffee again dominate and give a medium long finish. The mouthfeel is creamy but, oddly, starts off a bit watery. Paired with Braised Bison Shortribs and you’ve got yourself a helluva meal.

Bottle. Foamy, average sized, beige head. Very dark brown, slightly ruby pour with average lacing. Roasted malt and bitter coffee were dominant in the aroma and the flavor profile. There is also a little toastiness and caramel flavor in the malt. Moderate bitterness that wipes away the malty sweetness. The coffee roastiness lingers for a while, which I appreciate. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. A bit softer carbonation would have been nice. Overall this was a good, easy drinking porter.

Black pour with a tan head. Faint roasted and coffee aroma. Flavor is roasted with some bitter coffee at the finish. Light mouth feel and tons of carbonation.

Bottle - Very fast disappering head on black body; Very unpleasant chemical nose with sharp glass fiber aromas; Soft carbonation on thin body, slightly bitter, could be alright but the bad aromas.....; A little better aromas in finish. Undrinkable!

poured black with an off white head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Flavor was much the same with added hints of sweet caramel and a hint of hop.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of StFun. Pours a clear dark brown with a medium sized frothy beige head. The aroma is chocolate, molasses, and some dark fruit. The flavor has a nice roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and molasses combination going on. There is some sweetness to this throughout. In the finish I get an earthy hop sensation as well. Medium bodied and smooth drinking.

Pours a dark brown with a small, off white head. Smells of mild nutty roast, malts, touch of caramel andcoffee as well. The flavor is a bit sweet, with the roasty nuances more in the background. Some toffee and coffee mixes are evident but not in large quantities. Overall its a simple little sweet porter. Maybe a touch too sweet for my preferences, but not terrible.

12oz bottle from StFun. Thanks, Josh. Very dark brown pour, almost cannot see through the oily body. Decent carbonation releases pleasant, if not terribly distinctive, chocolate and light coffee aromas. Some hops in the beer to balance out the thicker flavors, even if the mouthfeel is not what it could be. Overall, a solid and enjoyable porter.
