Commercial Description:
This robust ale is dark, rich, and chewy. Somewhat bitter with a big and chocolatey malt flavor, the Snake brings the kind of flavor that drinkers of single malt Scotch or straight black coffee appreciate.

12oz bottle from StFun. Thanks, Josh. Very dark brown pour, almost cannot see through the oily body. Decent carbonation releases pleasant, if not terribly distinctive, chocolate and light coffee aromas. Some hops in the beer to balance out the thicker flavors, even if the mouthfeel is not what it could be. Overall, a solid and enjoyable porter.

Bottle… Pours black with a small, creamy, lightly tanned head. Decent retention. The nose is chocolaty and a tad nutty. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Sweet milk chocolate flavor. Crisp, sweet, finish. Milk porter? A big THANKS goes out to mgumby10 for sharing his bottle!

Growler. Pours dark with light brown head. Smells of roasted malts and chocolate. Some vanilla. Taste is very dark and bitter, but well balanced with sweetness. Chocolate component is very nice.

Pours a dark and lightly translucent chestnut brown color. A foamy, khaki colored head settles to a wispy film, while sudsy lacing slowly wanders back towards the body. Aromas include coffee beans, bittersweet chocolate, roasted peanuts, and caramel malt. Earthy hops lend balance to the nose. Flavors follow suit, baker’s chocolate and scorched caramel showing alongside coffee and bitter, earthy hops. The body is a little disappointing for a porter, slightly watered down but well carbonated and drinkable. Overall, this is a pretty decent little session porter, but it’s noting special.

12 oz bottle-pours a rich light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-molasses/ash/coffee/chocolate, roasty, slight dark fruit. Taste is dark malt-coffee/chocolate, secondary earthy hops bite. Mild carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of StFun. Pours a crude oil black with almost zero head. Nose is light coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma with a mild bitter finish. Lighter mouth feel. Decent porter – thanks Josh!
