Complex IPA, not the cookie-cutter variety. Solidly amber, with citrus/floral/spicy hop aroma- several varieties I suspect. Firm caramel malt base with some sweetness provides a good canvas for the assertive hopping, in both bitterness and flavor. Maltier than most IPAs, a good thing. This is a unique India, one of their best efforts.

Had at a random bar near the hotel at my brother’s wedding in Indianapolis. Not one of their better offerings; was expecting more out of an IPA.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy orangish red appearance. Nose is fresh hops, some pine and citrus...very inviting. Taste is enjoyably smooth for such a hopped up IPA. Good citrus, pine hop flavor. Easy to drink yet very bitter (in a good way) due to the massive amount of hops. I’d almost put this in the DIPA category, if it weren’t for the 7.5ABV. This is one of the best little known secrets in indy.

Pours rusty orange with some dirty white head. Soft grapefuit nose. Nice big citrus and pine. Medium to full body with a long bitter finish.

Growler courtesy of hopscotch. Pours clear copper with white head. The aroma is pretty malty with a bit of brown sugar and biscuit to go along with pine and spice hoppiness. The taste is a bit chewy with malt, creating a ‘yum’ sensation, with the additional layers of caramel and biscuit. A moment after the maltiness is fully realized smooth pine and spice hop bitterness even out the experience. It ends more refreshing than I thought it would with a pleasing level of hop bitterness and a mild amount of lingering chewy malts.

Growler thanks to EDA for sharing. Pours a bright coppery orange with a thin head sticky and nice cobwebby lace.. Aroma is piney hops, tacky sticky resinous, orange and light grapefruit. Flavor is a bit more malty- thick toffee and caramel malts break through the sappy resinous citrusy and pine sap hops with a cold smoke harsh bitterness from high cohumulone which I liked- long tacky resinous finish. Nice.

Yellow-orange pour with a white head. Nice aroma of citrus, grapefruit and hops. Light body with a really good citrus and hops flavor. Not overly sweet with a light bitter finish.

Sampled from roving 64-oz growler during Dark Lord Day ’09. Pours a semi-hazy golden orange brew with a decent off-white head that has some good retention and lacing. Aroma of some light golden malt and a touch of grapefruit zest. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a decent balance of caramel malt and flowery hops. Finish is slightly sweet, mildly bitter with a slight grapefruit and caramel flavor.

Growler. Clear pumpkin colored pour, little carbonation and some funk and stale hops aroma. Flavor was bitter orange and hops right off the bat, then malts and some caramel sweetness on the finish. Good? -->Yes! Although not a beer worth searching out unless you are a big IPA junkie.
