bman1986 (142), Broadstairs, Kent, England Oct 28, 2009 Cask at The Artillery Arms, Ramsgate: Red brown colour, quite hoppy and sweet. Pleasant malt background. Overall a good beer, but I found it mildly disappointing for an Oakham beer. haddonsman (1234), Derby, Derbyshire, England Jan 22, 2009 Cask, Flowerpot, Derby. Fat, juicy, dark brown, spicy. Fun, fun, fun for Fifi. JK54B (912), Helsinki, Finland Jun 2, 2008 Cask RA. Dark brown colour. Some licorice in the taste. Round spongelike taste. bhensonb (4179), Woodland, California, USA Apr 26, 2008 Cask at the Magnolia in S.F. Light caramel aroma. Dark amber color with a little white head. Smoth, near medium in body, andno real carbonation. Starts with very well balanced lightly roasted malt and floral/fruit bitter. Finishes pretty dry, yet mildly fruity with fruit/floral hop. It’s good to be in England (in S.F.). mjs (1445), Helsinki, Finland Apr 26, 2008 (Cask at Gallows Bird on 2008-01-26) Taste is a bit sweet but roasted malts and fuity hops balance it quite nicely. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Apr 13, 2008 The color is a clear, dark brown. Aroma is fruity hops (not American), very strong, which creates a British hop juice sensation; very nice and original. It’s hoppy yet British. The taste is not as interesting, its a watery hop mess and the reduced carbonation just makes it seem bad. I would love to try this bottled and not on cask. Cask @ Beer Table, British pint glass. cmillward (418), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 11, 2008 Cask @ redlight redlight. Deep amber with a white head. On the nose, light citrisy hops with slight bready malts. Citrus hop bitterness leads, you can detect a subtle sweet malt backbone, and closes with a tangerine like hop finish. Very unique hoppiness, I hope to find Sorachi Ace hops in more of my beers. This was quite a good bitter, hope to have a shot at it again. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Apr 9, 2008 Cask @ Max’s in Baltimore. Copper appearance with a large beige head and good lacing. Muted, mild floral and citrus aroma. Interesting taste; a bitter, hoppy start and finsh with toasted malts caught in the middle. The lemony characteristics of the specialty hop was more prevalent in the aftertaste. Medium bodied mouthfeel with a slightly metallic, lingering finish.
