Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular. Originally a summer seasonal but now permanent. Also available bottle conditioned.
Clean and crisp with a fruity aftertaste. The use of Saaz hops gives this lager a citrus finish that lingers on.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Ealing Beer Festival.
Bright gold, a good white head and excellent condition. Tangy malt aroma well balanced by some spicy ginger hops. Equally tangy flavour bit this time from some glorious tangerine and peach hoppage. Good earthy malt base. Kick of sweetness just before it is booted out of the way by a surprisingly good bitter finish. Far and away the best cask lager I have had, very impressed. If only there were more beers like this, maybe there would be less InBev in the world...

[on draught at the Hobgoblin, Reading] Claims to be a cask conditioned lager, but lives up to it’s name - much more like a golden ale than a lager. Sweet honeyed aroma and initial taste, before the bitterness kicks in. Lots of citrus flavours. Slightly disconcerting drinking something so sweet and so bitter in the same taste. Lovely honeyed hops aftertaste.

Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2007. A golden beer with a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet with flowery and elderberry notes of hops. The flavor is sweet malty with flowery notes of hops, as well as notes of elderberryflowers, which lingers in the slightly bitter finish. The body is thin.

Cask conditoned - handpump - Criterion Leicester. A golden coloured beer with a white head and lacing. The aroma is thin and a bit watery. The taste is bitter and there are floral notes. Some citrus, but all in all pretty unexciting.

Bottled. Golden with a brief head. Malty aroma with notes of straw, apricot, butter, white bread and grass. Oranges, apricot, straw and grass in the cotton-like flavour. Medium bitter finish with notes of lemon and straw. A lager with a great charcter.

Bottle. Bright gold with a small head. Aromas are buttery caramel and citrus with sweet fresh, floral hops. Flavours are sweet malts with hay and biscuit. Bitter, sweet grapefruit with fresh zesty hops and marmalade fruitiness. A great bottle conditioned beer.

Cask gravity at Ealing BF 2007. Clear gold, bubbly white lasting head. Yes it has got lager malt, but the hops are excelllent. Decent citrus hops all over it. The finish in particular is reminiscent of a bitter. Ditto the mouthfeel. More of a golden beer than a lager.
