Gorgeous looking beer..dark,darkest brown with a lovelly tight ,bubbly tan head. Very coffee accented nose..coffee and burnt oat . Again the fl;avour is dominated by the dark french roast style coffee ..followed by some dark raisin fruit and cream..weird. Thinish palate actually more like a porter palate. But overall a good beer.

Thanks to UncleJedi for sharing! Dark pour with a thick chestnut colored head. Roast and light vanilla on the nose. Light roast, hazelnut, and coffee upfront. Finish is dry with a touch of milk chocolate

Beautiful black pour with a lightly tanned head. Aroma of sweet malts, sweet chocolate, light espresso, and roast. Flavors are much of the same as the nose, with a very balanced take on them all. Blended well with a nicely done finish of smooth espresso, this beer doesn’t need to be heavy or anything to prove itself, it’s just well done. Fantastic!

22oz bottle from John’s Market. Pours a clean chocolate black with with a wonderful looking large but uniform and tight mocha tan head. Looks fantastic in the glass. Nose isn’t overly deep, strong or overly complex...but mostly silky oat, deep roasted malt, touch of nuttiness and rich bitter coffee...smelling good. Feels a little thin and watery on the body. Touch of vanilla and hazelnut up front, then roasty malt moving into some bitter coffee that doesn’t have the sweet or artificial taste that some other coffee beers can often have. Nice stuff, but I think a touch more depth in the body would really help it out. I am really digging the straight coffee thought.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip. The pour is gorgeous with a thick tan head growing gradually on top of a completely opaque black. No light penetrating this one as the head sticks to the sides begrudgingly on the way down. The aroma is massively roasted, with a nearly-burnt espresso aroma dominating throughout. There is some evidence of dark malts, oatmeal and some bakers chocolate as well. The taste is also extremely roasty but with a little less coffee and more dark chocolate malts and roasted black malts. There is a smooth oatmeal presence balancing the bitterness of the roasted malts in the finish. The mouthfeel is interesting in that it’s extremely dry and roasted but also extremely smooth with good carbonation and on the fuller side of things. This is a very good espresso stout with a thick creamy mouthfeel and good coffee presence in the nose. Good beer for coffee lovers who don’t mind the big burnt malt character.

Pours a pitch black colour with a thin brown head. Not much to the froth but it leaves behind a pretty coolour Instant coffee- not "instant coffee" but INSTANT COFFEE scent right off the bad. Black coffee, this shit is burnt. Burned toast. Definately a lot of oak . Playing pool today I smelled something that smelled like grease. Something burning in the kitchen. That’s what this aroma is like. Taste is really full and creamy. Dark roasted and tasteful in every way. Thanks for the beer brandon!

Date: September 22, 2009
Mode: Bottle
Source: Bottleworks, Seattle
Appearance: black, frothy tan head, streaks of lace
Aroma: big chocolate and espresso aroma, caramel sweetness adds richness
Flavor: rich dark chocolate flavor, roasted and coffee meld together, lots of dark malt bitterness, a touch of burnt character, caramel sweetness brings it back to add a sweet creamy character
Overall: over the top on the roasted, dial it back a notch and it will be a winner in my book

Pours jet black with off brown head. Aromas of coffee, light cocoas and malt. Drinkable espresso stout, I can easily put to pints back.
