yngwie (3394), Kristiansand, Norway Jul 30, 2008 On tap at Bishops Arms Järntorget, Gothenburg. A clear-looking black beer with a small, dark tan head leaving some pretty lacings. Sugary nose with licorice and some alcohol, as well as burnt malt and some dried fruits. Sugary sweet flavor with some smoke and licorice, burnt malt and dried fruits. Touch of alcohol too. Oily mouthfeel, yet it feels a bit thin. Lasting, sweet finish with burnt malt, coffee and some licorice. Sure a nice porter, but a bit on the sweet side I think, and it lacks a bit on the body. (080709) Ole_R (1167), Oslo, Norway Jul 20, 2008 Draught@Bishop’s Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg. Stable thin bubbely brown head. Black opaque body. Smells sweet licorice, raisins and plums. A whiff of roast and rum.
Medium sweet taste, roasty, malty-bitter. Notes of espresso and dark dried fruits. Vinous character.
Medium body. Roasty and fruity ending. Nice. Egon (301), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 16, 2008 Draught. Black with beige head. Sweet with low bitterness. Chockolate and liquorice.
larsga (2132), Oslo, Norway Jun 30, 2008 Thin creamy brown head with blotches in lighter hues. Opaque black body. Rich chocolatey mealy aroma with hoppy roasty notes and some alcohol and coffee. Dry-sweet resiny chocolatey taste with some sweetness and alcoholic coffee notes. Quite a bit of bubblegum, too. Dry roasty chocolate aftertaste. A pretty good beer, but loses on the alcohol and bubblegum. They changed the keg while giving me this, so it could be an issue with that. Should rerate. (0.3l draft at Bishop’s Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg.) larsniclas (2794), Gothenburg, Sweden May 17, 2008 Draught at Bishops RAns, Järntorget.
Black with a small, creamy head.
Sweet and roasted in both aroma and flavour; coffee, dark sugar and prety salty.
Quite light body for the alc.
