Ernest (4254), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 5, 2004 Draught. Head is fully lasting. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin, pine). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Certainly plenty of hops in the nose, but that just ain’t enough for me to get excited about it. Crosling (1660), Loveland, Colorado, USA Nov 14, 2004 Copper. Hop driven in the aroma with a touch of fruity hops (cascade), lemon, pine and a splinter of caramel, toast and vienna. Flavor is suprisingly malt driven. Hearty, rich malts balanced by earthy, fruity and sharp dry hopping. A lot like their Isolation and 90 Schilling, two beers I don’t really care for, which is probably why I didn’t like this. Regardless, Happy Birthday to my favorite local brewery.
