Commercial Description:
Care for some hops with your hops? Before we ferment our 5 Barrel Pale Ale, we strain it through a bed of 'em. Then while it ages, we add even more. We like how this gives the beer a fresh, lively finish. We like hops.

As we go about refining the recipe for each new beer, we brew up just five barrels at a time. That's exactly how we arrived at this pale ale -- so that's what we named it. Plus, it sounded a lot nicer than Giant Vat Pale Ale.

Tap @ Steamboat! Hazy amber color, light head. Weak aroma. Nothing too special in taste, a weak hoppy taste, quickly fading. Not too impressed by the overall beer.

Hazy light amber color. Some malt and hop aroma, maybe a bit fruity, and some grass. Simple flavor, with light caramel, dry, some sugar, very light apple peel, quite strong (or correct) bitterness. Too simple.

Had this beer on 6/28/2005. Aroma is malty with a faint sour hop scent. Color is a deep gold with very good carbonation and a nice tight head. Taste is smooth, hoppy and clean. Starting with a nice medium body it goes down with a smooth and yet slightly crisp feel. Finish comes on with a gentle sweet malt flavor that is backed by an even bitterness. on the end there is a nice hop taste and it leaves you with a smooth feel. At first It didn’t strike me as anything great but its just so smooth and well balanced that I find myself liking it more as I drink it.

Bottle: Dirty Orange in color, slight haze, moderate fizzy off-white head, falls quickly, sparce lacing.   Nose isn’t all that pleasing.   Mainly sulfer like notes, band-aided malts, cardboarded hops.   When I think Pale I think IPA Light.   This doesn’t appear to be so.   Very minor citrus like bitterness on the tongue.   Hop presense is minor, if at all present.   Has a funk to it, slightly sulfuric.   Quite mealy on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate (average).   Lackluster finish.   Just doesn’t seem like that much of a Pale Ale to me.   Blech... not crisp enough for my tastes.   Pales should be clean and fairly crisp, to which this is neither.

Aroma simple hop and malt. Taste is strong on hops, some malt (caramel) and earthy notes. It is full bodied an pleasing on the tongue, but not distinctive beyond the hops.

Bottle from BlackForestCO. Clear orange color with the aroma of light hops and that same weird funky peat, mildew aroma. Tne taste was lightly malty with a nice hop profile. Some citrus fruitiness in the finish. Not a bad brew. Thanks, Jake.

12 oz bottle from Cheyenne, WY; nose of light piney and citrus hops, caramel malt, and sweetness; amber with a medium beige head; flavor has flavor has pepperiness, light fruitiness (maybe nectarines), and a tiny bit of hop bitterness for a finish.
