Commercial Description:
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle as a reddish-orange, with lingering off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma was slightly detectable hoppiness, but flavor was a perfect blend of hops and malts. Finish was very smooth, somewhat warming, and long lasting. I really enjoyed this beer.

Nice deep amber color with a small head that laced forever. Aroma is malty. Very smooth flavor

A medium body amber ale with smooth but not powerful flavor. It has a crisp dry taste, not very malt rich. A smooth hop finish. Not my favorite, but is a good beer.

This is a pretty decent ale. Crisp with a good, full-bodied character. Not exactly up to par with the real deal from Scotland – but good. We got a pony keg of it for a party and it’s a great drinking beer. Nice compromise between a full-bodied amber and something you can continuously drink all night without getting too full. I would put this as my third favorite from Odell after their Cutthroat Porter and Easy Street Wheat.

Mountain Brewers Beer Fest 2006. Lack of appearance judging reflects opaque plastic sampling cup. Only average brown ale, a style I’m not a huge fan of to begin with.

This is a Scottish Ale? I would have pegged this as an American Pale, certainly not an Amber Ale which is what it states on the label. Piney hops and light on the malt. A little fruit and spruce in the nose. I like it better than their wheat beer.

On tap at their tasting room. They call this a Scottish? Def. thought it was more of an Amber....pretty light in taste. Decent beer, though one of the weakest I tried at Odell.
