Bitter taste (Goldings) with a dry malt body. It struck me as one dimensional and not really true to style. Weaker and hoppier than it should be. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA

Pours a medium reddish brown with an off white. Sweet malty aroma. Flavor of caramel, nuts, nuts, and a hint of tobacco. Just the right amount of sweetness. Very clean and smooth finish. This is one of the better American Scottish Ales I have had. Either that, or I was really drunk. cweston (11), Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 19, 2006 I really wanted to like this beer (there don’t seem to be enough good American craft beers of this style), and I mostly did. Nice deep copper color, nice malty aroma and taste. It definitely finished on the metallic side--great up fron and a little disappointing at the end. Rockinout (946), Kent, Ohio, USA

At the time of this review, I couldn’t give it good glass-pour treatment, so no head report, although the aroma is very malty and pleasurable. The before, mid, and finish are as smooth and as slightly-malted as you would expect from a great ale. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
