Commercial Description:
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Pour is a dark red with a white head. Aroma is malty and sweet. Flavor is a mix of malts and sweet dark fruits. Lots of woody and earthy notes make an appearance as well as some hops on the swallow. Been waiting to try this for awhile and i can say i was missing out on a tasty brew. Goes well with my cigar.

12oz. New bottle design. Served at 54.6° in my NB worthy glass. Enjoying some Fun Lovin Criminals with the captain. Dark red color, nearly brown with a "ring" of off-white foam. The aroma is turbino sugar caramel, notes of dark fruits and distant spicy notes. The mouthfeel is a large amount of malt which makes for a rich, coating beer. The taste is toffee with a mid sourness at the finish. One of my earlier micro’s, but not really a regular beer. Haven’t had a glass in 5 years.

Bitter and acerbic aroma. Dark amber with a fluffly white head and excellent lacing. Lightly hoppy fore followed by some sweet malt and a mellow sweet toffee finish.

Tap at brewery. Lots of malt, some caramel, some ashy wood flavors. Not bad, but not overly impressive.

[At Stockholm Beer Festival 2005] A red-brown beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of alcohol, and over ripe fruits, as well as hints of wood. The flavor is sweet malty with powerful notes of wood and caramel, as well as lesser notes of fruit.
