| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 4, 2005 Sweet malty nose. Red orange with a thin sudsy head. Sweet and bright hops with caramel and some lemon. Cookies and some faint chocolate. Gummy? Maybe I’m looking for more than this beer provides. I’m certain it’s better on tap. Caramel malt and hop aromas mix. Slight hop flavor with caramel malt creamy flavor and a hop end. Medium bodied and fizzy palate. loeffler (16), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 20, 2005 Has a deep red/amber color. There’s a slight big of orange in the aroma and flavor. It’s not too sweet, which gives it an edge up on other ales in my opinion but it does still leave that syrupy texture in my mouth. A slight metallic finish but that helps round out the sweetness. I noticed a little toffee as well. Not bad for an ale. ColoradoBobs (31), Colorado, USA

Appearance: Small, dense head, with good retention and adequate lacing, atop a dark, somewhat muddy looking brown ale.
Smell. Toasted malt with banana estersnicely complimented the hop bitterness, with a background note of spice, almost mint.
Taste: Biscuity warmth of roasted malt, medium hops bitterness with grassy notes, followed by a long bitter finish. Pretty nice.
Mouthfeel: Not as round or chewy as I had anticipated.

I like this more than fat tire, just because it’s got more to it. It pours brownish-amber with a so-so head. Malt in the aroma with some slight hop presence. The taste is balanced as well. Rich for an amber but balanced by some decent bittering hops. Finish is good, mouthfeel quite nice. Not a particularly amazing beer but solid and nice. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA

Not much head, but it was there and it lasted longer than many beers and wasa very noticable brown color. The aroma is quite malty, maybe some fruit or brown sugar. The taste was nothing special, just a typical ale I thought. Although the palate/mouthfeel was pretty good and well above average. meathookjones (245), Sterling, Virginia, USA

This poured out a brownish bronze with a bout a half-inch head of off white foam. As the head dies off rather quickly the glass was left decorated with sparse patches of lace. Caramel sweetness rose from the glass in a pleasant but fairly mild aroma, that also had some fruit notes to it. Flavor had a strong caramel presence with a bit of an earthy hop kick to keep the sweetness in check. There were also notes of fruits and it was a bit doughy at times. The mouthfeel was good but feel a little short of a medium body. This stuff is pretty darn tasty and goes down very easy. I would definitely pick more up if it were available in the area.
