Commercial Description:
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Draft - Zydeco’s - Fort Collins, CO - Reddish maple syrup color with an almond colored foamy head that lasted well. Light lacing. - Sweet apple juice malty aroma. - Fairly dry, but balanced. Dry malt with caramel up front with a nice bitter finish. Yummy - nice balance - not deep but very tasty and drinkable. - Medium body mouthfeel.

(draught) Deep amber. Not much of a head by the time it got to me, but the beer left great lace. Mild malt aroma. Flavors were sweet malt with a hint of smoked whiskey. Hops noted at the finish.

Brow/red color, small head that faded quickly leaving little behind.Nice malty caramel aroma maybe some fruit in there,a slight yeasty hint and maybe even some alcohol but it’s very very faint.malty sweet taste up front with a nice caramel side.Just a hint of alcohol coming through in the middle but again as in the aroma its very faint.Nice mellow hop taste in the end with a slight bitter sweet finish.Very nice brew but i have to say the wheat was better IMO but this would do as well. Thanks go to Falconseye for another nice brew.

Aroma is that of sweetness and chocolate. Also a bit of caramel in the after taste. This is a nice scottish ale, of which i am partial too. A good sample of the scottish style brew .

On tap at Fat Alberts in Greeley, CO. The clear red/brown body is thcik and smooth with sweet caramel (too sweet after awhile). Very low hop presence here, but a nice malty drink otherwise.

A little thin once it hits the lips, but this is a big beer. I agree with another rater who tastes more alcohol than is in the beer. Also grains and decent hops. Little malt and smooth finish.
