Commercial Description:
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Pours a crystal clear reddish amber with thin white head. Decent lacing though. Nice malty aroma with a hint of hops. I really like the balance of this beer. It is sweet but the dry finish snaps that up real quick. And just the right hop bitterness rounds the whole thing out. Not bad.

A golden amber ale with a thin white head. A pleasant crisp floral hops aroma with light caramel malt. In mouth, a light ale with a nice balance of malt and bitterness. Tasted at Mondiale 2007.

On tap at the Cherry Cricket who, incedentally, has life-changing hamburgers. Pours a dark red with a nicely frothy white head. The aroma is musty with suggestions of aroma, wood, and earth. A fair amount of Euro hop bite is present. Pretty smooth, slick palate. A lot of hearty wooden character is in the flavor and comforting bready malts. The finish is sort of bitter with faint metallic notes. This is pretty straight forwards session brew.

on tap at papago... pours a slightly hazed ruby amber copper color with a foamy white head. this smells really toasty and malty with touches of nuts, citrus and earthy mildly spicy woodiness. these notes carry through to the flavor... to go along with them are hints of chocolate, grass, orange skins with a scant amount of the pith still on them, some pine (not resinous) and a slightly tongue numbing dry hoppy finish. it’s very crisp in the mouth and quite refreshing as many in this style tend to be too sweet. medium bodied session beer which pairs great with food... 7/4/7/3/15/3.6

Deep amber color...fluffy head. Floral aroma with a slight sweetness. Sweet malt flavor in the front...mouthfeel is somewhat crisp. Noticeable taste of hops blends into the back...finish is long, and a tad dry. Overall, a very well balanced, tasty brew.

Beautiful beer: copper penny color with solid white fluffy head and impressive lacing. Aroma is subtle caramel malt and dark fruit. Flavor is all smoky malt and lacks complexity. Okay session brew.
