Commercial Description:
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Bottle Pours a nice orangeish red with a small off white head. Aroma is malt, sweet caramel, spices, bread. Flavor is caramel, malts, a touch of chocolate, touch of rasins and chocolate. Pretty decent brew, but not really a standout.

Draft at brewery Aug ’08: Poured a dark orange reddish color with not much head. The aroma was sweet and roasted malts. The flavor was sweet caramel, light chocolate and a nice bitter aftertaste. Overall, a very good beer.

Bottle. Pours clear amber brown with a medium beige head, good lacing. Smells of figs, caramel, and nuts. Medium-thin body, crisp. Malty flavor, much like the aroma, with just a little pine hop flavor and a mild bitter aftertaste. Balanced and drinkable.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a thick head, good retention, nice lacing over a clear light brown body...nose of roasted malts, with some coffee aromas, caramel....tastes initially of sweet roasted malts, then hops begin to dominate....mouth feel is creamy because of the lovely carbonation. The whole presentation was light for a Scottish Ale, but I think brewers hit what they were aiming for in a "medium bodied amber ale".
