Pours clear brown with a large, frothy light brown head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), light hop (herbs), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth, leaves) with notes of dates and cola. Full bodied, gritty texture, lively carbonation, and an astringent finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness. Brettanomyces aroma. jimbowood (953), Athens, Georgia, USA

Sour candy nose like melted ribbon candy and christmas cookies. The flavors are nutty and lightly crisp...refreshing as well. However, there isnt much to any funk from the brett. That being said, the nuttiness here is very nice and makes for a very drinkable concoction. notalush (2657), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2009 GABF2009 - this beer isn’t exactly sour - it’s more along the lines of an oud bruin, so sour ale is probably the best classification - the brett has had just enough time at this one to develop a earthy, leathery character that works well with a nutty quality, and the sweeter notes of the malt (raisin, toffee) - the barrel adds additional depth in the form of oak flavors and light vanilla that work well with the sweeter elements of the beer - lingering brett character, but no real acidity to it - quite a nice beer.
