The aroma is roasty with some notes of coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor is more of the same. Espresso, chocolate some roasted malt. The 4.5% ABV. belies its full flavor. Finishes slightly bitter from the hops. Well balanced, an excellent session porter. TheEpeeist (1453), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Smooth mouthfeel with a quick tang that makes the body seem a bit thin. Taste is coffee and woody grapes that fades to orange peel and bitter chocolate. restless7 (104), Lenexa, Kansas, USA

Aroma is light but flavor is nice, smoky, smooth, coffee and hints of vanilla. Palate is dry and long. Was served cold, would probably be even better around 55F. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2008 Kind of a boring porter lacking in raosted malt and poor mouthfeel. Drinkable, but not search worthy. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2008 tap at the brewpub - Pours very dark brown with a long lasting tan head. It has a nice aroma of roast malt and chocolate. The flavor is more of the same but in my opinion is too light and nothing really stands out. It looks and smells very good, but drops off a bit from there. Very drinkable though. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Pours like any porter w/ a decent light-brown head. Black as night, like motor oil. I wasn’t expecting much after detecting the cliche coffee/roasted malt aroma but I was pleasantly suprised. Upon tasting, more flavors jump out at you like a very darkly roasted espresso or chicory and soy sauce. A light creamy chocolate is detectable. Finishes very long with a nicely balanced dryness. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2008 The pour is a dark opaque color with definite red and copper tones that become more obvious when held to the light. A darker shade of white head that pours nicely to start but doesn’t last with the drink. Limited lacing as well. The overall smell is nothing really dominant but still detectable. The smell is stronger in roasted qualities then any other. Some touches of coffee and chocolate are presents as well as some earthy tones. The taste is light and creamy. Taste is good but light overall. The creaminess is not really a milky taste but smooth. To start off there is a big malt presence with big roasted and more noticeable coffee and chocolate tones then the smell would indicate. The malt is the stronger piece but the aftertaste provides some light more English style hopping. There is a slight watered down that kind of makes the beer easier to drink. But also limits a greater taste. Overall this is a good session beer. carboloader (319), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Had several of these on tap in New Mexico. I had low expectations and was floored! This is a genuine full-roast, smoky, tasty porter. The malts are smooth and not too sweet and the hops are nicely balanced so that it all ends well. Thin mouth feel and it could be more complex, but this thing was served on tap next to Budweiser and other macro brews at my hotel and I was stunned. Tastes like a a true to form micro brew.
