Mild roast coffee flavor is good and smooth with hints of chocolate malt. A good, slow drinker for that snowy day (enjoying a nice blizzard outside!) elpresidente19 (5), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2007 On tap at Trailhead Tavern- This was exceptional, especially with the nitro tap...dark, full bodied, nice chocolate and coffee undertones. A great beer to sit back, realx, and enjoy. Boutip (2371), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Aroma of chocolate malt with some nice roasted notes is really enjoyable. Taste is dominated by the chocolate malt with again some nice roasted malt to balance and light hops at the end. Body is quite full but could have been creamier IMO. I have to admit that this is very well done and would be nice as a session porter considering the low alcohol %. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Pours a dark dark black color with a large, frothy light-brown head. Excellent lacing with a mostly lasting head. Chocolate malts are abundantly present in the nose, with notes of lightly roasted coffee. Initial taste is lightly sweet, and finishes smooth and lightly bitter with a slight tinge of sweet. Light in body, it has a watery texture that makes it very drinkable. Active carbonation.
Amber had a beergasm. It’s a bit nutty. Sweet coffee taste. Reviewed on February 5, 2007 bigcat03 (191), Lincoln, Nebraska, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 31, 2007 Bottle from Wilburs poured into english pint - Pours an interesting red-ish purple hue with a 2 finger tan head; Big notes of chocolate and toffee with some light coffee and roasted barley to the nose; Coffee and a lot of roasted bitterness on the initial taste; Faintly bitter and woody aftertaste; Is this a porter? A fairly watery-medium body; Very light carbonation; This beer built me up and let me down. It’s not bad at all, but I was expecting lots more of the aromas that I detected to be in the taste. Doesn’t really fit in with a lot of the porters I’ve had. KAggie97 (2464), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours with high carbonation that quickly loses its energy and settles into a black oblivion. Smoke, roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee are present in the nose. Flavor is roasted smoke that finishes with roasted chocolate beans. Mouthfeel is a bit thin; more like the feel of coffee on the tongue than a beer. Not bad; good for an impending South Texas "ice storm." thehurt01 (205), Denver, Colorado, USA

The beer poured a dark all most black in color with a dark tan head. The smell is roasted malt and coffee. A taste of smoked and roasted malt, very earthy. A good carbonation with a strong coating in the mouth.
