Decent looking pour. Aromas of coffee and chocolate. Thin body, a kind of fruity, medicinal taste. Not going to drink again, MUCH better porters out there.

Black body with tan head. The aroma is roasted with a touch of chocolate. The flavor is semi-sweet, mostly roasted, some chocolate. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. Mouthfeel is smooth, but a tad thin.

Large aroma of deep roasted malts and chocolate fudge. Dark garnet in color with a fluffy beige head. Chewy mouthfeel is velvety and luscious. Some swirls of caramel/toffee balance in the flavor, along with black licorice, bitter chocolate and some English hops. Very drinkable. Terrific porter. Thanks James.

Bottle. Bottle conditioned. Pours dark brown, almost black. Can see through it a little when held to the light with a maroon tint. Tan head. Aroma is roasty and smokey. Malty roastiness balanced well with some hop bitterness. Really taste the roastiness in the aftertaste. Light, almost dry mouthfeel with a decent amt. of carbonation. I like this porter.

Rich Roasted flavor with earthy hop notes. "Robust". Compare this with Guinness. Bottle Received from Arctic Liqour Beer of the Month Club Today 02-21-06

12 oz poured into shaker glass. Pours a dark cola color with small, light-brown head that fades in minutes. Smells like sweet chocolate, but not overpowering or overly sweet in aroma. The taste is very interesting, with a strong beginning, smooth chocolate and coffee mid-taste, with a sharp hoppy end and bitter aftertaste that stays soured in the mouth for quite some time. This was my first porter, so either I’m not meant to like porter beers, or Odell let me down for the first time.

I picked this bottle up when I was out in Denver for the 2005 GABF.

The beer poured a roasty coal black body and a tall khaki head. The aroma boasts sweet black coffee, the bitter sweetness of bakers chocolate. Pulling out a dry bittering hint of English hops there in the finish; I’m guessing Fuggles, Willamette, and maybe some Northern Brewer hops? The beer has some depth and nice character to it; dances around the palate like the old ragtime Charleston. A well rounded porter with a noticeable English flair. Well Done!
