| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 23, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights. It has a frothy light beige head that goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.
The aroma is sweet chocolate and some burnt coffee.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malts and some burnt roastiness with a touch of fruitiness and a little lactose. It has a lightly bitter coffee finish. It’s medium bodied with a good amount of velvety carbonation.
Overall, this is a well balanced porter - maybe a tad on the sweet side. This is a great fall back beer that I find myself drinking often.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 13, 2005 On tap at Barley’s. Some floral and citrus hops with roasted malts. Vary dark brown to black. Full, lasting, tan head, with good lace. Light roast flavor. Little bitterness. Fruity. Pretty thin. I think this is supposed to be a robust porter. Somthing is wrong. I may re-rate some day. bu11zeye (5505), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 17, 2005 Pours like any porter w/ a decent light-brown head. Black as night, like motor oil. I wasn’t expecting much after detecting the cliche coffee/roasted malt aroma but I was pleasantly suprised. Upon tasting, more flavors jump out at you like a very darkly roasted espresso or chicory and soy sauce. A light creamy chocolate is detectable. Finishes very long with a nicely balanced dryness. Thumbs up. StoutCat (85), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 24, 2005 Dark brown - red translucent color with a nice lacy off-white head. Smells faintly of sauerkraut with other slightly coffee-malt notes. not very thick palate, tastes very weakly of coffee and caramel. Very drinkable, but not very memorable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 23, 2005 Pours a nearly opaque obsidian with dark brown edges and a frothy and well-lacing tan head. Aroma is rich, malty and roasty with a hint of maize. Starts lightly sweet and toasty turning more dry, bitter and roasty, borderlined burnt. Goes down fairly smooth, but is not very complex.
