Aroma is rich, malty and roasty with a hint of maize. Starts lightly sweet and toasty turning more dry, bitter and roasty, borderlined burnt. Goes down fairly smooth, but is not very complex. Aroma was roasty and espresso bean oriented, but not acrid. Flavor was also roasty, but there was a nice balancing chocolate sweetness. A bit light bodied, but perfectly balanced and ultimately enjoyable. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Dark pour with a nice tan head that recedes a bit quickly.
Nice aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. The flavor is bit light, following the aroma, with a light body. With a bit more intensity of flavor, and a bit more body, this would be outstanding.

A fairly black bdy with a hint of amber at the edges. Aroma of incredible roasted malts along with brown sugar and some pears. This is a great smelling porter. The taste is brown sugar along with some roasted malts and deep tobacco. This is a very good porter. Impressive. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2004 Very dark brown body, soapy tan head. Enticing aroma: oily chocolate malt with wet coffee ground highlights. Excessive carbonation that detracts from the flavor. Dark chocolate malt with light coffee accents, porterish tart finish. Light body. A thicker mouthfeel and lighter carbonatio would do this beer well. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Completely black color, with a full and frothy cocoa-colored head. Aroma is sweet and chocolately, quite roasted, rich, deep, dark. Intense coffee flavoring! Full body, decent texture, a clinging finish. A dark character dominates the flavors, but it’s never too better and entirely quaffable. Not a porter for the namby pambies, and a treat for this porter lover. jsquire (2113), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Hot cocoa foamy head with a dusty chocolate nose. Some nice roasted grain flavors, chocolate and faint coffee. Nice hop bitterness in the finish that lingers with bitter chocolate. Tastey porter.
