Sample from November 21, 2008 beer club meeting. Not sure what all the hype is. Reddish-brown-black color. Sweet, delectable porter aroma. Good, but I can think of quite a few porters better than this. Nice in the mouth, but it just doesn’t strike a match for my eternal, porter-yearning flame.

Brown with a medium tan lacy head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste of roasted malt, mild chocolate and mild alcohol. Somewhat sour with a mild bitter finish.

Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass. Aroma - Sweet and roasted hops with a bit of chocolate and hops. Appearance - Opaque brown with quickly diminishing creamy, tan head. Minimal lacing. Flavor - Milky chocolate, coffee and a touch of floral hops. Palate - A tad light on the mouthfeel for a porter. Somewhat creamy with nice carbonation. Rather clean finish. D - This is probably the best ’American’ porter that I’ve tried. Very drinkable, yet complex enough for the jaded porter enthusiast. Balance of malt and hops with clean finish make this a winner.

(Bottle) Pours a very dark brown color without much in the way of head. Low carbonation, yet decent lacing. Aroma is quite malty and includes some chocolate, light coffee. Taste is generally roasted, with hints of vanilla and dark caramel. Average mouthfeel. A well made Porter.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep mahagony color with a smal tan head. Aromas are pretty weak only picking up some roasted/burnt malts. Flavors the same, roasted/burnt malts with a long semi dry hopped finish. Palate fairly thin.

8-2-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to oxymoron
Black pour with a nice ivory coated head and some little lacing. Smell is very light coffee and malt. Flavor is light malt sweetness with a dryness and some hops to it. Mouthfeel is decent, I suppose, but just a touch thin.

Draught....pours a thick, dark, creamy head with good retention, nice lacing...dark brown color...nose of coffee, cocoa, other malts...sweet taste to start, then more bitter malts, and hops come in....somewhat light mouth feel.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Very dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of freshly ground coffe beans, cocoa and liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with fresh coffee and dark chocolate. Balanced coffee bitterness in a dry finish. Rather thin body. Nice and tasty beer.
