(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Very dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of freshly ground coffe beans, cocoa and liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with fresh coffee and dark chocolate. Balanced coffee bitterness in a dry finish. Rather thin body. Nice and tasty beer.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a creamy light brown head. Fairly roasted coffeeish aroma. Medium body with sweetish hard roasted malts and again coffee. Lightly malt bitter finish. Again a very well crafted beer from Odell. 200908

On tap. Pours deep brown with a good size tan head. Smells of coffee, and malt. Taste of malt and earthyness and coffee flavors.

Courtesy of Gillard. Pours deep brown with tan head. The aroma is burnt malts, mildly earthy, more burnt malts mixing with dark roasted malts. The taste is similar to the nose starting with burnt malts along with mild earthiness. Midway it becomes a bit sweeter with mildly caramelized malts mixing with more burnt black patent type malts.

Dark pour with brown head. Roasted coffee and chocolate on the nose. Flavor is rich with coffee and chocolate with a touch of hops towards the end. Nice full flavor and good carbination.

Bottle. Poured dark brown, almost black with a thin white head, good lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. Slightly thin-bodied for a porter, but very smooth. The carbonation obscures some of the more delicate flavors, and adds a slightly acidic taste at first, but not unpleasant. Fades into a mild, malty, dry, caramel flavor, slightly sweet, balanced with a mild earthy hop flavor. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Poured a dark dark brown/red. Almost black, but not quite opaque. Tan head. Smelled of sweet malt, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Tastes like slightly burnt chocolate with mocha like coffee notes. Hops balance the sweetness of the roasted malts very well. A solid, well rounded porter that offers good complexity. Very good!
