The aroma is burnt malts, mildly earthy, more burnt malts mixing with dark roasted malts. The taste is similar to the nose starting with burnt malts along with mild earthiness. Poured dark brown, almost black with a thin white head, good lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. Slightly thin-bodied for a porter, but very smooth. The carbonation obscures some of the more delicate flavors, and adds a slightly acidic taste at first, but not unpleasant. Smelled of sweet malt, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Tastes like slightly burnt chocolate with mocha like coffee notes. Hops balance the sweetness of the roasted malts very well.
