Commercial Description:
Double Pilsner is our tribute to the pilsner style, heavily hopped but balanced with malt and refined on our 5-barrel system. Originally brewed in Bohemia, pilsners were the world's first clear golden lagers and the start of a dramatic revolution in brewing. Today, pilsners are still a revered part of Czech and German life and an inspiration to our brewers.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy golden, small head. Grassy hbuttery nose. Sweet with chewy malt. Sugar tries to hide the alcohol, but doesn’t do a very good job, letting some vegetables comes through as well. Salty finish. Why call a bold, sweet lager pilsner?

Bottle. Pours a pale yellow with a white head. Has a solid malt base and a lot of hopppiness, but not of the variety of an APA or IPA. It has a spiciness that is always lurking beneath the malt. Very enjoyable.

Hazy yellow, moderate head with decent lacing and retention. Aroma is spicy hops with some floral notes, a touch of bread. However, most of the aroma and flavor is dominated by alcohol. The finish is alcoholic sweet and the bitterness is moderate to low. Once again, not enjoyable.

I am definately not a fan of pilsners, so doulbling them makes it even worse. Has that same odd pilsner malt flavor that I have grown to dislike so much, but as far as pilsners go, I guess this one is alright.

I found this one pretty enjoyable. I’m not much of a pilsner drinker, and haven’t tried many in this category. But the heavier mouthfeel and more distinguishable palate kept me interested. Heavy malt with a slight balancing hop flavor. The citrus ties it together. A little high-priced in my opinion ($10.69/6pk), but still tasty.

Pour is a golden with a small white head. Aroma is deffinatly citrus with a hoppy back bone. Flavor is a bit corny and alcohol. It has a super thick mouthfeel that keps remminding me of a malt liquor. This is tough to get down.

Smells of grass, hay, oregano. Body is medium with lots of fizz and some sticky sweetness. Finishes earthy and herbal but the sugar lingers. Too sweet for me.
