Jun 9, 2007 (bottle) Pale gold with small white head. Grassy aroma. Flavor of grass and hay. The alcohol was also very noticeable - more malt liquor than pilsner.

Jun 4, 2007 This is weird. Pours an appealing yellow gold color with a big webby head. But in the glass, I see no rising bubbles. Aroma has hops but they’re indistinct - I get lemon and thyme. Is it saaz? I need more. There’s a grainy breadiness that’s more easily apparent in the nose. Acetaldehyde? More weird is the flavor. Big husky sweet graininess, with a touch of fusel alcohol, and a milder spicy hop, and low levels of bitterness in the finish. Heavy and sticky, not drinkable like a good pilsner. We need to call these double pilsners for what they are: hoppy malt liquors. No thanks.

Jun 3, 2007 Pours just like a pilsner, tastes of sweet hay and grape seed. A decent spicy bitterness, but the flavors were not that fleshed out- at least not to my standards for a double pils. Did not have the characteristic dryness of a pils and could have used a lot more saaz.

May 27, 2007 pours pale golden with moderate off-white head. strong sweet hay aroma. taste is sweet with a good amount of grass. finish has some good spicy bitterness. not to bad could use more saaz like spicyness.

May 25, 2007 Wow, this was a lot better than I thought it would be. Pours very light pale yellow with active carbonation with a good sized white head. The aroma has lots of pils malt that is smooth with lots of grassiness, some spice and sourdough malt - very fresh. Medium / full body that is very slick with some semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with very bready malt along with clean grassiness, spiced hops and some herbal traits, but the herbal aspect actually works here. The finish has lots of spicy hops, more grass, slight ABV warmth, but for 8% it is quite well hidden. Thumbs up for this very well crafted beer from Odell.

Mar 21, 2007 Bottle sampled on 11/8/06: Pours a clear bright golden with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh Saaz hops and sweet pale malt has a lager yeasty profile. Body has good thickness with a sweet pale malty flavor and nice Saaz hoppy balance. Enjoyable and well done.
