Aroma is sweet, with some piney hops. Flavor is very well balanced, with a caramel malt start, and some bittering hops in the back. The beer seems to gain malt as it warms. The alcohol is definately there, but it isn’t as overwhelming as I expected for a 8% beer. Palate is fairly creamy for the amount of carbonation, finishing a bit dry. Overall this is a very good, highly interesting beer. kyzr (1132), Belgrade, Montana, USA

Flavor has a nice hoppy bite up front with good carbination that opens up with roasted sweet malt. Then the warmth of the alcohol hits towards the finish. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA

Delicious hop flavor over a unique dark red colored body with semi-thick light tan head. Hops remind me of a Belgian beer. First "Red Beer" I’ve ever had and I like it. VitaminR (445), Colorado, USA

Has a raisin sweetness with some molasses, this is balanced by an orange pith like Well carbonated, medium to full body, with a nice warming alcohol finish. Really interesting and tasty beer. alraicercsu (166), Ft.Collins, Colorado, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2008 I typically shy away from anything with a distinct hops flavor, but this beer changed all of that for me. Pours a ruby/amber with a thin, clingy, tan head. Aroma is distinctly of hops, and a wonderful roasted grain, with a hint of sweet. Flavor was Hops at first, followed quickly by the malt/grain, finishing with the caramel/sugars, then the hops kicked back in to give it an extremely crisp finish. My palate was singing and I make this a staple in my fridge when I can get it. scooterbub (390), Lander, Wyoming, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 17, 2008 Bottle. Has a nice dark red color with a thin, creamy, clingy, tan head that lasts. Taste is rather hoppy, of malt, caramel and citrus. Is sort of sweet, with a dry and slightly bitter finish. Despite being 8% abv, the beer is rather easy to drink. Aroma matches the taste, but is very pleasant and noticeable. Pretty fulfilling and overall it’s satisfying. Not a bad beer at all. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
